Based on the New York Times bestseller “The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II” from Buzz Bissinger, the film follows a group of American Marines stationed in the South Pacific on Christmas Eve of 1944, who participate in a game called “The Mosquito Bowl.” Hardened by war and weary from pain and loss, the soldiers’ spirits were momentarily restored and forever bonded together by the great sport of American football. Comer will portray George Murphy, an All-American quarterback from the University of Notre Dame who finds himself alongside a handful of other college football stars as they train to fight in the Battle of Okinawa. Comer currently stars in the Broadway adaptation of “The Outsiders” musical, after having previously starred in the original production of the musical at La Jolla Playhouse.
