They fled after the staff and security guard raised an alarm, police said.DSP (City) Alok Ranjan said, “Seven miscreants arrived on three motorcycles at the jewellery showroom located at City Centre under the Sector-4 police station limits on Sunday around 4 pm.”“Two accused, who were in police uniform, claimed they came for a security audit and asked about CCTV cameras and other arrangements,” he added.“The staff insisted on speaking to the local police before allowing any audit. Sensing something amiss, the showroom staff activated the alarm, forcing the criminals to flee,” DSP Ranjan said.A customer, who was present at the scene, said, “The situation was terrifying. Then the alarm rang and they ran away.”Police are scanning the footage captured by CCTVs installed in the showroom and neighbourhood areas.
