Bengaluru: In a city where coffee is not just a beverage but a way of life, Bengaluru's old-world culinary traditions cast a spell on young chefs from across the globe Saturday afternoon. What grabbed the spotlight was the city's most "by-two-coffee" — coffee shared across two steel tumblers in neighbourhood eateries!Even as many modern cafés and fast-food joints consciously give this tradition a miss, that bygone coffee culture of sharing the hot beverage came alive during the Honestly Bengaluru Food Trail — an immersive walk through the spice-scented lanes of Basavanagudi organised by International Institute of Hotel Management for culinary students from different countries who are in the city to participate in International Young Chef Olympiad (YCO)-2026.As part of the two-hour heritage food trail, the participants made a stop at the bustling By2Coffee darshini (fondly known as "b2c") near Bugle Rock and ordered their first cups of frothy filter coffee.Juliana Mariya Rodriguez, a mentor from Colombia — the world's third largest coffee exporter — was astonished. It is so fascinating, and I loved it," she said. The food trail introduced the delegates to flavours shaped by generations — from the buttery crispness of Benne Masala Dosa at Vidyarthi Bhavan to the spice-laden warmth of Khara Congress Bun at Sreenivasa Brahmins' Bakery to the unmistakable aroma of freshly brewed filter coffee.
