Chris Evans' Captain America return in Avengers: Doomsday is one of the biggest moments in Marvel Cinematic Universe history, but as the film's directors note, the writing was always on the wall. Evans and Downey are the two faces of the MCU, so having just one of them in Doomsday would have felt wrong, and it seems the Russos never cogitated that. The directors helmed two Captain America movies — The Winter Soldier and Civil War — and the latest two Avengers films — Infinity War and Endgame — which makes them and Evans very close.
