Assagao’s ‘Kiki by the Sea’ to be sealed over pollution norms

The Bardez mamlatdar has ordered the immediate sealing of ‘Kiki by the Sea,’ a beachside kitchen and bar in Assagao following directions from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) over the establishment’s alleged failure to comply with environmental regulations.Operating under the name Royal Tomato (Tomato’s Beachside Kitchen and Bar), at survey no. Despite being served multiple notices previously, it failed to meet the stipulated conditions, an official said.In a memorandum issued on Feb 6 , the mamlatdar directed the Assagao talathi to execute the sealing process immediately. The revenue authorities have also been tasked with submitting a formal compliance report along with a panchanama to the magistrate’s office at the earliest.This move comes amid a state-wide crackdown on tourism-related establishments following recent directives to enforce safety and environmental standards.
