Tobacconists shops Vehicle shops, vehicle service centres or petrol stations Shops that either meet the NSW government definition of a "small shop" or have an exemption from the secretary of the Department of Customer Service may open. Most shops will be allowed to open all day, but shops that meet all of the following criteria won't open until 1pm: The business is run by an individual, partnership or a proprietary company (does not include a public company or related corporation) There are no more than 100 people engaged by the owner in all shops throughout Queensland at any one time The business is not conducted within a non-exempt shop or part thereof But this doesn't count if the shop is predominantly a food or grocery shop, the Queensland government says.
