American E-4B ‘doomsday plane’ takes to the skies as Trump weighs all-out strikes on Iran


The Boeing E-4B Nightwatch — which was designed to protect national security officials and keep the government operating in a time of nuclear war — was spotted by flight trackers above the Offutt Air Force Base, home to the headquarters of the US Strategic Command. Trump has now set a deadline for Tuesday for Iran to agree to his peace plan and open the Strait of Hormuz or the US would destroy the Islamic republic’s power plants and bridges. The Nightwatch serves as an airborne command center for the president, secretary of defense and the chairs of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to ensure continued critical command, control and communication in case of emergencies.
